Asia Pacific Awards to host Iranian ‘Atabai’

The 14th Asia Pacific Screen Awards is to host Iranian film ‘Atabai’.

Iranian film ‘Atabai’ has been selected to compete at the 14th edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

This is the first international presence of the movie ‘Atabai’ and it will compete with the best of world’s cinema.

The movie is directed by the well-known Iranian actress Niki Karimi and it is her fifth feature-length film.

The film has previously participated in the 38th edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Hadi Hejazifar, the star of ifilm feature ‘Standing in the Dust’ has penned the screenplay for the flick.

Javad Ezzati, Sahar Dolatshahi, Danial Noroush and Hadi Hejazifar are some of the cast members of ‘Atabai’.

A synopsis to the film reads “the 40-year-old Atabai lives with his father in a village called Pirkandi. Years ago, he left university just one year before his graduation because of unrequited love”.

According to the official website of the APSA “Established in 2007, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards are the region’s highest accolade in film where cinematic excellence shines. With films from 70 countries and areas in the region, APSA honours filmmaking that best reflects its cultural origins and the diversity of the Asia Pacific”.

Nominees of the event will be announced mid-October and the winners will be celebrated on November 11.
